This project is designed as a shoulder basket made on an oval base. A practical basket for mushroom picking or as an all-purpose tote. Various willow weaving techniques will be covered, along with some leather work. Previous experience with willow weaving is an advantage.
Laurence Thiffault is a visiting basket maker from Quebec, also known as Sweet Mama Grass. She has been weaving on her own journey for the last 8 years. Basket making is a real passion for Laurence Thiffault, but it is also a way of life in tune with natural cycles and her deepest convictions. Her passion led her to Europe where she gained knowledge from well-known basket makers. She makes everyday objects from materials she gathers from nature or produces on her family's land. For some years now, she has been enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge through creative workshops.
