Willow Bark Basket

This is a small decorative basket made from willow bark. In this one day workshop you will learn to prepare and cut the strips of willow bark to make this small diagonal weave basket. The bark was harvested in the summer of 24 from cultivated willow stock. This technique is from Northern Europe and can utilize many different splint (black ash, birch, white oak etc) or bark materials.  And it can be overlaid with embellishments to fancy it up. Other splintwork techniques will be demonstrated using willow and birch bark.
Suitable for beginners and improvers alike. All tools and materials provided

Workshop is held in a partially heated barn, layers are recommended.

Tea and Coffee and a small afternoon snack is provided but participants are responsible for their own lunch.
