Foraging Basket Workshop

  • Big Barn Little Farm 717 Meadow Green Road Saint Andrews, NS, B0H 1X0 Canada (map)

This is a very versatile basket and we will make it out of Nova Scotian grown willow using stake and strand methods to create a strong, durable and beautiful household container. We will be pairing and randing, waling and bordering down, all basketry techniques fundamental to this style.  A wrapped handle or pegged handle balances the basket and provides great hand comfort. You will learn some of the basics of growing, harvesting and preparing the willow to weave.  Hand strength is required.
